Leonard A. “Smokey” Brown, Jr. is a long time resident of the Irmo community. Graduating from Irmo High School in 1987, Smokey attended Presbyterian College, graduating in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in history.
Upon graduation, Smokey returned to Irmo and worked in his father’s insurance agency until 1994. That year, Smokey started law school at the University of South Carolina. After graduating in 1997, and passing the bar examination, Smokey worked for The Welch Law Firm, in Greenwood, South Carolina, until May 2001. During his four years with The Welch Law Firm, Smokey tried cases in civil and criminal courts, prosecuted cases for the City of Greenwood, and conducted estate planning for his clients.
Since founding The Law Office of Smokey Brown, PC in late May 2001, Smokey chose to focus his law practice on basic legal needs for his clients. His experience, both career and personal, and the love for the Irmo area and community, proves to be key assets when working with his clients.
Married, with two children, Smokey’s outside activities and hobbies include reading, traveling, building Lego sets, following the Boston Celtics, and taking better care of himself.
Kim's ten-plus years of experience allows her to build effective client relationships and provide the best possible legal services. Multi-talented with skills beneficial to a law firm, Kim’s duties include meeting with clients to complete estate planning, working with our affiliated title insurance companies and coordinating real estate closings with realtors, lenders, buyers and sellers.
She graduated from Ashworth University, Delta Epsilon Tau, with a paralegal degree in 2009, while employed with The Law Office of Smokey Brown, PC. Prior to her employment at the firm, she taught pre-school for 13 years.
Formerly a resident of Fallon, Nevada, among other places while growing up in a military family, Kim has resided in the Irmo area for 22 years. Kim is married and her hobbies include reading, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
April is a Lexington, South Carolina resident. She graduated with a paralegal degree from Midlands Technical College in 2012. April’s desire to learn the real estate closing process gives her the ability to complete federally-mandated closing forms necessary to conduct a real estate closing.
April works carefully with lenders and realtors to prepare clients for purchases and refinances of residential homes. In addition to preparing closing forms and explaining these forms and processes to clients, April also works with clients to complete estate planning documents, using her personal experience to simplify “legalese” for our clients.
Recently married with a son, April enjoys soccer, motorcycles and spending time with her family.
